The County Auditor is an elected official who can be thought of as the county accountant. This position requires appropriating funds to correct accounts, paying bills, keeping inventory of county property, maintaining capital asset records, and calculating payroll, possession of oath of county offices, and among many other duties.
The Auditor serves as clerk to the County Commission by keeping records of commissioner proceedings by posting agendas, taking and posting meeting minutes, and posting any other notices and calls for bids along with any other tasks as requested by the County Commission.
Voter registration, including the master voter registration, and coordinating all countywide elections, including primary and general elections is another duty of the County's Auditor. For voter's information on where to vote, sample ballots, track absentee ballot, and check on your voter registration, visit the Secretary of State's Voter Information Portal.
Print the Voter Registration Form, fill out it, sign it, and submit it to the County Auditor. Your Voter Registration form with an original signature must be received by the county auditor 15 days before any election if you wish to vote in that election.
South Dakota law does not allow you to submit your voter registration form via fax or email.
