This is a fairly new program to the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office, which just started the school year of 2023-2024, with all three schools in Hamlin County now contracting with the sheriff's office for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Each school now receives an average of 2 hours per week of SRO time. In the past, Castlewood School District was the only school that contracted with the sheriff's office for an average of 5 to 8 hours per week.
While in the school, our officers do presentations for students and staff, support for the school staff and administrators, security checks, and interaction with students.
